Scripture Verses in Times of Adversity

For the past two days I have focused my thoughts and prayers on scripture passages that provide assurance during times of adversity and uncertainty such as we are currently experiencing. Today I am going to share these verses with you in hopes that they will bolster your spirit. I suggest you take one verse each day and keep it in your thoughts throughout your day and evening. If fear or anxiety creeps into your mind, push it out by rereading the scripture for the day.

Psalm 27:1

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid.

John 16:33

I have told you of these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Psalm 91:1-2

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God and I trust him.

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Philippians 4:4-7

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
