Storm Recovery Donations

Thank you all for your messages of care and concern. Fortunately, the building and grounds of Holy Family are undamaged. The supply chains providing gasoline and food have almost fully recovered. Power has been restored to 90 percent of customers, and internet connectivity and cell phone service have been restored to our area of Western North Carolina. However, the needs our neighbors in the surrounding communities are great. The rebuilding of our mountain communities has begun, but there is an overwhelming amount of work that must be done.

If you would like to donate to Church of the Holy Family directly, we will ensure that your funds will be put to use at a very local level to meet the pressing needs of the people in our community.

We have created a Storm Recovery Fund to earmark your donations. Thank you for your generosity and trust.

Sunday Service October 6th

10:45 AM. - 11:45 AM

Dear People of Holy Family Church,

Just as I was beginning to plan an outdoor service for tomorrow morning, I received a text alert that power was restored to Church of the Holy Family. Let’s gather at our usual time of 10:45 am tomorrow to pray for those who have lost so much and to give thanks for the many ways we are blessed, both great and small. It will be a simple service – no bulletins, and no livestream until we have more time to prepare. We’ll do church the old-fashioned way with prayer books and hymnals.

Yesterday, St. Francis Great Falls, my former church in Virginia, drove down a truckload of critical supplies. I met them at St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville, and I loaded up my truck. Tomorrow, I will set up a table to distribute these supplies: water, diapers, infant formula, nutritional shakes, canned foods, and other provisions. Parishioners may take what they like for themselves or for their neighbors. Anything that is leftover, I will distribute in the Mills River community.

Please join us tomorrow if you can. Please bring your electronic devices if you need to recharge. Please bring your stories of perseverance and neighborly kindness that you have witnessed this week. We need to be together to share our stories of sorrow and courage. We need to hear Jesus speak to us of comfort and hope.

Peace and blessings,

Tracey
