Music
Church of the Holy Family is looking for its next part-time Music Minister. Holy Family has a broad musical background encompassing individual musicians, and choral groups. As our current choir is small, congregational singing development skills will be required. Since our church utilizes a piano for worship, organ skills are not required for this position. Our music on Sundays is rooted both in the Anglican and Appalachian traditions; the latter seems especially fitting given that the Blue Ridge Mountains are visible from our windows. We are accustomed to using music from the 1982 Episcopal hymnal; and the Wonder, Love, and Praise hymnal. We regularly integrate sacred music into our worship from a variety of genres including Taizé, folk, Appalachian spirituals, gospel, and bluegrass. Our informal interpretation of a five-centuries-old tradition is not for everyone; but for our members it feels just right. A description of this job opening can be downloaded here.
